Fractured at Eight

A frail and fractured child at just eight,

Her life was broken beyond debate.

Someone should’ve been concerned enough.

Intervention proved to be too tough.

It seems no one loved this small, scared soul,

Abused by parents without control.

Drugs and alcohol made up their world.

Instead of loving their little girl,

They blamed her for the messes they were in,

Taking it out on her; not their sin.

They told her she should not have been born,

And she believed it before very long.

She was found one morning cold and dead,

With ugly bruises on her little head.

Society was shocked to learn the news.

Neighbors said they didn’t know what to do.

If someone had not turned a blind eye,

This eight year old girl would not have died.

  1. dang...like a punch in the gut....when people turn a blind eye or dont want to get involved because of the trouble it might make...it rather pisses me off...
